Jesus
said, “I am the Living Bread which has come down from heaven. Anyone who eats
this Bread will live for ever,” (Jn 6:51). Christ is the Living Bread and
offers eternal life to those who come to Him.
Bread
is an essential need. Jesus is the source of our needs and He taught us to pray
“Give us this day our daily bread.” There is also a spiritual hunger. This
spiritual hunger desires for the life eternal that only Jesus Christ, the
Living Bread and the source of eternal life, can give.
We
need the Word of God and the Eucharist to renew our soul and to sustain our
body in order to live on earth. A healthy body is important if we are to enjoy
the quality of life that glorifies God. Christ came down from heaven to live with
us so that we enable to live a Christ centered life. Christ centered life will
impact the world and make us more readily to share His love, compassion,
kindness and forgiveness.
Pope
Francis said that the Eucharist “is not a prize for the perfect but a powerful
medicine and nourishment for the weak,” (Evangelii
Gaudium, The Joy of the Gospel, no. 47).
“Taste
and see the Lord is good,” (PS 33).
